July 14, 2005
Ever wondered how to end your day in a state of relaxed bliss again… and again? Well… keep reading.

By the time you get to the end of this article you will have a clear… crystal clear… idea of how to spend your evening.

If you are like me you are always looking for ways to put more bliss into your life.

Now, before I go on STOP… stop and promise me that you will take time out for your mind, body and soul. Promise? OK great, because you deserve it!

Your Japanese inspired spa night involves a body scrub, body wrap and writing Haiku poetry. Trust me you’ll enjoy it!

What you will need;

  • Green tea to sip
  • Candles
  • Calming music
  • Kimono (dressing gown!!!) and slippers
  • Fluffy towel
  • Dried seaweed sheets (Nori from the supermarket is great)
  • An inch long piece of ginger
  • 2 tblspns of sea salt
  • Olive oil
  • Cling wrap
  • Notebook and pen
  • Set the scene with your candles and music

    Body Scrub

  • Make in a small container enough for one use
  • 2 tblspns of sea salt
  • Chop or grate ginger finely
  • Combine and pour in enough oil to just cover salt
  • Hop into the shower and use your body scrub

Rinse off and dry yourself completely

    Body Wrap

  • Soak your sheets of seaweed in water and apply to your skin
  • Once an area has been covered, wrap with cling wrap
  • Leave on for at least half and hour
  • Rinse off in the shower

Dry off, put on your robe and slippers.

Make yourself a green tea and sit down with your notebook and pen

Haiku (pronounced HI-coo) is a Japanese style poem

It consists of only 3 lines and 17 or less syllables.

5 syllables on the first line, 7 syllables on the second and 5 on the third.

It is a way of capturing a moment in words. Simply. It should paint a picture in the readers’ mind. Here is an example,

    rush hour traffic . . .

    in the rearview mirror

    the full moon setting

I got this from a page that describes a simple approach to Haiku. http://hometown.aol.com/Jemrich/HaikuHabit.html

Combining a simple art form such as Haiku with a spa treatment really nurtures your mind, body and soul.

Add simple, beautiful acts to your life and you will start living the life of your dreams. I hope you try Haiku and it brings you joy and peace.

Until next time pamper yourself silly!

    With love

    Kellie
