Aaaaah at the end of the day what do you do as a comfort ritual?

I met up with my sister-in-law, Leiza this week and we were discussing her late night comfort food cravings and how they are getting out of control! Chocolate, chips and ice cream are making a daily appearance in her diet and it is having an effect on her energy levels.

She loves nothing more than sitting down at night with a cup of tea and a treat. Let’s face it, who doesn’t? However, when this type of ritual starts affecting your diet it is not doing your health any favors. So in the true spa style of holistic healthy living I thought I would share some alternatives.

There is no need to deprive ourselves of simple pleasures and it is easy to make healthier choices. Just a little planning and a desire for something better and away you go.

The following quick snacks turn an unhealthy craving into a nourishing treat with no downside.

For a chocolate alternative try the following;

2 tablespoons Raw almond butter 1/4 cup raw dried shredded coconut 1 teaspoon of flax oil Handful of raisins or 2 dates 1 teaspoon of honey and a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt Mix together to taste and form into little balls or bars. Serves 3.

For an alternative to crisps or chips try the following;

Almonds or brazil nuts with wild Atlantic Nori or cashews with cut Wakame.

Try them out I promise you, you will be amazed at the taste!
