waxing to the rhythm of the moon!
January 28, 2007
Hi

How are you?

Do you ever look at the moon and marvel at all it's mystery?

Have you ever wondered why sometimes it is painful to wax and other times it is not painful at all?

Have you ever thought that there could be a link?

The phases of the moon can, believe it or not, have an affect on our beauty routine!

We see the obvious effect of the moon on the tides. Considering we are almost 80%water, I guess it's not that surprising that it also has an affect on our bodies.

I've definately noticed a link between the full moon and my own moods!

This is such a fascinating subject that I am going to write a full article and put it on www.spa-living-for-health.com But first I thought I'd give you a preview. For anyone, like me, who is 'lunar challenged' I'll start with the basics...

There are four phases of the moon; new moon, waxing moon, full moon, waning moon.

Each phase has a different affect on the body and can be useful in determining anything from menstrual cycles to the best time for waxing appointments.

The following is a brief summary of each phase;

The new moon is a time when your body is at it's most ready for detoxifying and change. It is a great time for fasting. It is also the optimum time for starting something new like a fitness regime or a new project. If you have a waxing appointment you will feel less pain if it is at the new moon.

The waxing moon is when the moon is getting fuller, it is a time of regenerating and absorbing. Therefore it is a great time to apply masks and nourishing treatments. It is also an easy time to gain weight so watch what you eat during this phase!

The full moon is a time of high excitement so try to do things that are relaxing and pampering. Gentle activities like Tai Chi are ideal. Listen to relaxation music while taking a bath. Skin is also at it's most absorbent so it is a wonderful time for nourishing facial oils and oil baths. This is not the best time for hair-waxing as it will be more painful!

The waning moon is an ideal time to start a diet or healthy eating plan. As the moon gets thinner so do you! It is also a good time for skin brushing, anti-cellulite programs or body wraps.

Do a google search on "lunar calendar" print one off, sit it on your desk and see the links for yourself. I'll keep you posted on the article.

All of this reminds me of my first house. It was a little cottage in the country. We had a leadlight window above our bed and I would often wake up in the middle of the night to a stream of moonlight shining on me. I really miss that house!!

Wishing you moon beams through your window tonight.

Kellie
