glass of water, hydrate, drink water

So how much water do you really need to drink and why?

Have you found a lot of conflicting information on drinking water?

Do you know that you can affect the health benefits of water with your thoughts?

Sounds a little ‘out there’ doesn’t it. Read on, you will be fascinated.

Let's start with the facts;

  • Water flushes toxins from your body and prevents constipation.
  • Water helps the body get rid of acid waste and alkalize, slowing the aging process.
  • Water helps convert food into energy.

The health and healing properties of water have long been associated with the spas of the world.

OK, so we know the benefits
but how much is enough?

According to the brilliant book “Your bodies many cries for water” by Dr. Batmanghelidj you can do a simple calculation according to your body weight.

Your weight in kilograms multiplied by 35 milliliters (or weight in pounds multiplied by 0.55 ounces)=Total Plain water requirement over 24 hours.

Weight(kg) x 35 milliliters = Total water

Water should be consumed over the course of the day. You should not drink water with meals, ideally 30 minutes before meals and 2 ½ hours after meals.

The following routine for the average adult is the basis of what we need;

2 glasses of water upon waking in the morning.

1 to 2 glasses of water 30 minutes before meals.

1 glass of water 2 ½ hours after a meal. In addition to this water intake Dr. Batmanghelidj also recommends a pinch of unrefined sea salt a couple of times a day. Table salt is not an adequate substitute.

According to this book, many illnesses are simply your body’s cries for water. It is a great book that anyone concerned about their health should read.

I read with interest that morning sickness is entirely reversible by having proper water intake as well as a pinch of unrefined sea salt. I can’t wait until my next pregnancy so I can try this out.

So that answers the question of how much water to drink.

What about the quality of the water we consume?

It is a concern to me as I am sure it is to you. That is why I was fascinated when I recently saw photos of Dr Emoto’s water crystals.

Dr Masaru Emoto, a Japanese Doctor of Alternative Medicine made the most fascinating discovery.

He photographed frozen water crystals and found that the water crystals formed different patterns when it was exposed to words, prayers or music.

Dr Emoto found that even writing words on a piece of paper and taping it to the outside of the bottle caused the water to change it’s expression.

Names such as Mother Teresa and Ghandi produced beautiful crystalline patterns while Hitler created a muddied ugly pattern.

A combination of the words LOve and Gratitude were found to be the most powerful thought for transforming the water.

A good article on the subject with beautiful pictures of the water crystals can be found here

I highly recommend his book as this is a fascinating read and the photos of the water crystals are beautiful.

Dr Emoto's water crystals recently featured in the wonderful movie “What the bleep do we know?”

The results of his research are proof for the first time that our thoughts and feelings have a direct effect on our reality. We have the power to impact the earth as well as our own health.

So express love and gratitude for the water that runs freely from your tap and drink to your health.
